We have one of those , its used to lock the door, we want to keep it open , trouble is nipper keeps closing it.0

How about a Cabin Hook, like THIS but maybe a longer one.
Screw the hook onto the wall or frame and the eye onto the patio door (avoiding the glass!)0 -

We used a piece of wooden curtain pole cut so it was a tight fit and had to be pushed into place - none of the kids could ever get it out. As it was round it slotted nicely into the bottom of the door.It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0
