PS - don't eat Lobster, clams, scallops or Dover Sole. Your monetary taste sensation is a pretty pathetic excuse for hoovering up species that may exist no where else in the Universe.
If you don't eat scallops though, is there really any other point to them?
I'm being a bit flippant, but there have been millions upon millions of animals that have come and gone over the past few billion years. At least we're getting some 'use' out of scallops.0 -
On the plus side is human ingenuity and the ever increasing rate of development of new ideas / technology.
Here is a better type of battery for example.

It seems to me we have some simple choices.
1. Live with hope.
2. Start a war.
3. Sterilize or starve everyone we don't like.
4. Start praying.
I'm going for number one. Some will call it head in sand.
I'd argue a fifth choice, or a 1.i ...live with hope, but give the hope foundations by employing OUR resources and looking to improve what we can and limit what we cannot improve.0 -
Well you're a better person than I am, and the kind of person I am hoping will save my skin.lostinrates wrote: »I'd argue a fifth choice, or a 1.i ...live with hope, but give the hope foundations by employing OUR resources and looking to improve what we can and limit what we cannot improve.
1. Live in hope... that others will sort it out for me.0 -

Hey, our resources might include your skin...don't count me to save it if I can somehow replace clingfilm with it
(See I just can't be rude without adding the nb that its a joke meant indulgently to one of my favourite contributers, someone will tell me off, or I'll offend someone:o)0 -
Someone will sort out this stuff, 'cos someone always does. I know how unscientific that sounds, but it's true. Trust me. We'll all be fine.0

It was funny. I know what you mean about adding the tagline to prevent offence. But it does take away the edge slightly.lostinrates wrote: »Hey, our resources might include your skin...don't count me to save it if I can somehow replace clingfilm with it

I always issue a private apology to anyone I think I have unfairly had a go at. Number of PM's sent so far - 0. I suspect Dervish may be waiting a very very long time.0 -

You and Cleaver can get away with what an over sincere (slightly pompous?) girly girl like I could not. One innocent comment about wasp's nests and someone I'd never noticed before popped out to hit me on the head.
Many of my comments pass under radar by the people they are aimed at.....I get thanked by the rotters I'm trying to poke a stick at.:rotfl: (I also note humour doesn't really work for me in writing.) ETA: dh just phoned, as is reading this and wants me to be honest
I sometimes insult people in person and they don't notice either. 0 -

Hang on there old girl! A lot of us thank you. :T :rotfl:0 -
Yeah the wasp nest thing was amazing. How people leap in having grasped the wrong end of the stick.lostinrates wrote: »stuff
Cleaver and I are a pair of irritating @holes, I speak mainly for Cleaver there. People will have a go, but in a way it all becomes a part of the banter, the show. It's when I try to make serious points that I get pulled to bits.
So perhaps we are less easy to attack. What's someone going to say? "You are an irritating mindless little twerp". Well OK yeah - now what?
And then we can wait and scheme and plot our revenge, until one day the attacker posts something from the heart, and then in a flash the prepared 'jokey' statement is right there underneath them. I speak mainly for my bitter and twisted self there.0 -

I love the term 'rotters'.
It takes me back to a more innocent age of penny whistles, the Famous Five, scallywags, chicken tasting like chicken and northern children with dirty feet joyfully running along cobbled streets whipping along a hoop with a stick.0
