  • probably not. It's always worth backing up OS disks just in case. I think I have win 98SE at home which I can can check later. If so, I'll post a copy to you as long as you have your serial.

Any idea what it is trying to copy across from the CD?

It will more than likely be trying to copy over the USB root hub files.

    Try http://www.usbman.com/ for help.
  • They may be on your hard disk somewhere, do a search for *.cab on the c: drive. If you find a directory on there with loads of win98*.cab files, then point the installer at that directory. Failing that, list the files that it is looking for, and some kind sole might help you..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Try this it may work ....If you go ahead with the install without inserting the win98 disk a message will come up "the file blah! blah! cannot be found " click "skip file" and it should then display the name of the next file it cannot find..The purpose of this is to find the names of the files that are required ,when you have them all Google for them or search yours or a friends computer for them.then put them all into a folder with an easy to remember name ..Then try to install your web cam and it asks for the win98 disk, point it to the location of the saved folder..
