Share dealing sites?

Hi. I'm looking for an online share dealing site to test what i've learned and to get my feet wet :D. ATM i've looked at The Motley Fool and hoodlessbrennan but they both seem to charge a tad bit too much for just a few simple transactions.

The cheapest share dealing service I'm aware of is the Halifax Sharebuilder ( also available under the III and Motlley Fool brands ) at £1.50 to buy and ( from memory ) £10-ish to sell. But this is a batch dealing service - you have no control over the buy price, they just make the purchase at set times on set days.

i use selftrade.com, its not the cheapest but is pretty good - it was recommended by Martin on his share dealing article

if i refer you we both get £50 (you have to trade £500 to get this though)
  • I'm with TD Waterhouse.
Found them very helpful, and the website is great.
    Masses of info on there.
You get to see the actual price you're going to buy at, and have 15 seconds to decide if you want to trade or not.
Commision is £12.50 for a standard trading account, or £9.95 for frequent trader.
If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying :D
