Barclays address verification help!

I tried to open the Barclays 6% savings account and as I am an existing customer I did it online.

I received a letter today saying they can't process my request because they do not have address verification for the last 3 years.

However when I moved out of my parents home last year I took all the relevant documents in to verify my new address.

The only thing I can think of is that they don't have any verification for my old address but my barclays account was opened by my mum about 10 years ago when I was 9. I have not lived anywhere else and how do I provide address verification (other than Barclays bank statements) for my mum's address? None of the bills were in my name!

Are on the voter's roll at your new address. This might be the problem.
Did you move to your new address 3 years ago?

I moved to my new address about a year ago and I am on the electoral roll.

I think they want me to verify my old address but other than their own bank statements I don't have anything to do this.

Well, you have to provide the bank statements then. Surely they can make exceptions especially as you are an existing customer

Why would they want previous addresses anyway? I thought the current address was more important.

I was going to ask same. It appears strange. Maybe they are not happy with something or perhaps OP is clear with what they want
  • I work for Barclays. It may just be that they need to update your details or ID. If you visit a branch with passport or driving licence they will be able to sort out and opend your account.
If your mum opened your account in may have been a kids account and now an adults account so they may just need to update id. If you dont have anything with your address just take in your passport or driving licence. (if you have one)
