hi no we were not advised to take it up it just appeared on the invoices, we were never given any leaflets it was as i have said part of their terms and conditions to have it, now this invoice has appeared with the word optional it does not appear on any other invoice and this invoice is supposed to be a copy of one that was issued in april 2003 when my son started. the details of the school are not in keeping with the head office board of directors or anything else at the time, its a total fake to cover their backs0

we paid nearly 3,000 into this scheme0

Speak to the FSA and see what they say.0

It seems strange to have optional on the original and not on the subsequent ones. Suspicious even.
Talk to the FSA as dacouch suggested and take it from there.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Are you on good enough terms with any other parents to get sight of/a copy of one of their invoices for the period in question, ie does their copy have 'optional' appearing on it ?0

yes i have thought about getting in contact with another ex mother as a probable witness in the case - sorry i didnt come back sooner0

G1hsg has given good advice, the way the school are acting could suggest they have something to hide.0

but anyway my son was told to leave 3 weeks into summer term 2008 as we could not find the money to pay for fees,
At which point you should turn to the local authority and be assigned a state school. It may not be the one of your choice, but the LA will find a place somewhere, if it is over 3 miles (2 miles for under 8s) they will also pay for transport to and from school.although my partner lost his job he still carried on to find work and pay the mortgage etc.
so your partner was working, even at a lower income level.anyway we tried the insurance route which we paid through the school but he could only claim if he signed on and then they would pay out after 90 to 120 days.
Difficult choice, but the options seem clear. Sign on as unemployed and the claim would be payable, work elsewhere and there isn't a claim. The option to take a lower income job to meet your other costs and leave the insurance pay the school fees is not available.well we hve struggled on without turning to the state and mortgage got behinid cand other payments began to get behind too.
Unfortunately this is what happens. Well done for not relying on benefits, but you do need to weigh up the costs of each decision. We are still carrying on with this battle over the insurance as it does not seem to be worth the paper its written on because if he signed on who would pay the mortgage ie we would lose out home, so whats the point. this is another con for stand alone insurance.
Eventually the state would pay the mortgage interest as one of the benfits eligible for those on low/ no income.
It is not a con of stand alone insurance. It appears you have chosen to take out insurance to pay school fees but not insurance to cover your mortgage or general redundnacy insurance. As such you are covered for some things but not others; the downside is that the insurance only pays out if you are claiming benefit.
I think the problem is the pick'n'mix approach you have taken to the insurance. If you had taken out mortgage insurance and school fees insurance and some redundnacy insurance you could have a claim on all policies and your partner could have signed on until a decent job became available.
By only having one type of insurance you have put yourselves in this difficult position.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. i have just seen your reply and although it sounds good there seems to be a bit of misunderstanding firstly, the insurance was part of the schools terms and condtions, secondly yes it sounds nice to have insurance for protection of school fees doesnt it, but the downside is whats going to pay for the rest of our lives. the state - no i dont think so they dont do the amount to pay the interest on the house. and thirdly well lets wait around for a better paying job. ok im waiting.........
whos go one...
anybody.....
just to remind we would need another 12,000 a year to pay them0
