Tesco credit card and PPI

Hi

Firstly sorry this is a duplicate post as I put it in the wrong place. Please delete this post in credit cards if you need too. Thanks!

I am in the process of reading everything and am about to try to claim. I must have had my card for roughly 10/11 years and until my last bill hadn't realised I had got PPI. More annoyingly is that if I had realised I would have claimed when I was really really poorly and was off work for a year. I even rang Tesco to explain why my payments were late as I was really sick and had been in hospital for weeks and there was trouble with my money and they advised that I set up a direct debit. No-one ever said well you can claim on your PPI so it does seem pretty rubbish in this instance.

My questions are has anyone ever claimed against Tesco and won and do you think I can still claim even though I've had my card for such a long time. In the last three months my PPI has eaten £50.

Thanks for any response. I will go back and reread everything.

    Hi Freebs

It sounds as if you have a case. In the first instance give them a ring and explain the situation to them they may agree and just refund the money, If that does not work then ask them for a copy of the CC Agreement if that is not happening then write the letter asking for a full SAR and send off 10.00 recorded delivery. They have 40 days to reply. Good luck and any further assistance please post again;)

I would start the ball rolling to claim your ppi. I did it with a personal loan that I had with Tesco.

Be prepared for the usual fob off letters. But don't let this put you off as I took my case to the FOS and Tesco made me an offer to pay back my ppi plus 8% interest.

Good luck and call on us anytime if you need advice

I was wondering if I may ask for advice again. I have sent off the first two standard letters and after the first 4 weeks and then after 8 weeks I have had a letter back from Tesco thanking for me for my patience and saying that they need more time to gather information. The last letter did say that if I am not happy with the wait I should contact FOS. My query is this. Are Tesco's just stalling me in the hope that I will go away. Should I give them another 4 weeks and see if they come up with anything or should I go ahead and consult FOS?

I don't want to jump the gun and appreciate that all credit cards must be busy with these claims but I just want to keep up the momentum. Thanks for your help. It makes things easier knowing that I can post on here!

Tesco may be stalling. If the 8 weeks are up I would give the FOS a ring. They may send off a letter to Tesco informing them that you have contacted the FOS which may push them along
