In my extended Kitchen i have plywood on the floor and was wanting to put floor tiles down, will it be ok (tiles to plywood) and should i treat the floor with anything before i lay them?

Thanx

It depends what tiles you are gioing to fit.
If they are semi fllexable I should give the plywood a coat of 'Unibond' or something similar and when dry, tile as normal.
With hard tiles it would depend how firm the base is.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • You can do it but you must ensure there is no movement!

There is some info Here on this very subject.

Do not apply any form of sealing agent such as PVA unless specified by the adhesive manufacturers or ales they could come loose very easily.

Personally I would not use ceramic tiles on a wooden floor of any type as there is always the possibility of movement.
If you really want to do it then use BAL flexible adhesive and flexible grout.
If you have removable plinth on your units (ie clipped on) remove it and run the tiles under it and then trim its height (at the top edge) and replace. You should do this whatever type of flooring you lay or you will never be able to remove the plinth again.
  • As long as your ply is well secured, i.e nailed down with securing nails every few square inches then you will be fine. Use flexable adhesive as well.
