    Hiya,

    can I make a recommendations ?

Those looking for a cheap Laser Copier / Printer, for home use, just looking for great laser printouts and the occasional looking professional looking photocopy ?

Go for the Samsung scx 4100. Laser copier printer scanner.

Absolutely Beautiful little machine. Tiny footprint. Great sofware. PC world sell them for about 99.99 but regularly knock them out for 69.99 in their Bank Holiday Sales. OH last year in post Xmas sale bought several and gave one for all the family as belated presents (admittedly he bunged the receipt in to the accountant as "Toner"). Had complete confindence in them after using a Samsung home laser printer based on the same engine, and was not disapointed.

At that price for they paid for themselves for the convenience of an important photocopy.

As PCW charge 99 sure the street price is about £80, but just keep watching their "sales".

    HOWEVER

Anyone thinking about regular use or a "home office", Paying more for an MFP with a "sheet feeder" is highly recommended.

    Time is money.

OH has a HP laserjet 33XX series. They are discontinued now, but it is the best business purchase he ever made.

Once you have stood there making copies, collating them, sorting them, and stapling them you'll know why, thinking you are saving money by not using the copy shop ....

Samsung do a laser MFP with sheet feed, for probably about 40/50 more. In businesss terms its nothing and pays for itself after a few uses.

    Re Color Laser.

Would not reccomend to the occasaional user. OH has a color laser, bought for "professionalism purposes". Got a cheap one. Later outlay to refill is immense.

Ink Jet just more versatile, and disposable, with the option of finding cheap official discontinued cartridges in your local supermarket, and printing on more sorts of media. With color laser, you are tied to a potential larger total cost of ownership, with no chance of bargain refills !

have it for £128.53 inc. and there's something about £25 trade in with brother for your old printer, but I can't get that link to work.

I was actually looking at the clp 510, but not decided yet.

This is the link for £25 back or extended warantee

These normally retail about £180 to £220 but I want shot of this one so if anybody is in the Essex area with a spare £120 then PM me and we can talk about it

As fifos mention, the Samsung scx4100 is a good deal, versatile and a god printer - only the output tray is a little small, so if you did a large print job just make sure you're standing near the printer. I got mine for £60 in PC World when it was on sale.

An alternative to the scx4100 is the Brother DCP-7025 - same as the DCP-7010 but with a sheet feeder as fifo suggests - it makes life a lot easier if you are photocopying more than printing. Also there's a scan to pdf function but I haven't tried it yet. I got mine from Viking for about £175 but I *think* that was a special offer from when they launched. Definitely a bargain.

Both multi-function devices are great, small footprint, and in the small office/home office environment, just buy another one when it breaks down, much cheaper than a big photocopier and a maintenance contract!

There are other differences the 7025 has more memory and will work with non Windows computers. The 7010 is Windows only. I posted links to the manuals previously in this thread if you need more details on these printers.

not necessarily.. sometimes I view offers just to see what they're about even when not interested - I wouldn't thank someone unless I actually took up the offer.

It sounds as though you are writing the Original poster a cheque by pressing on his thanks button!!

Im not bothered about this thanks issue myself , as you can see from my
infrequent postings, but from what I have seen, it means more to some who

post, knowing that the only gratification once gets out of taking the trouble to
post to a group of faceless names on an internet message board, is to be

know that the effort has been appreciated by others.

Again this thanking is not in kind, you dont loose a percentage of your daily wages for clicking on a button, it just means that it takes a further second of your time, in letting the original poster know that his efforts in posting a particular bit of information has been appreciated.

Again it depends on the upbringing I guess, some people are naturally courteous, others less so just as in real life!!!
