Just feeling so low about money at the moment. I seem to have spent the last 15 years of my life skint, and am sat here after my new job seems to have taxed me £400 too much (no payslip yet so can't check details), they have said that it will sort itself out next month but that doesn't help me now. I have been skint since Christmas, feeding family on £25 - £30 per week, constantly saying "I can't afford it", starting out a new relationship permanently skint, and was really hoping that being paid today would give me light at the end of the tunnel. Now I feel like the light has just gone out. I have my eldest's birthday in 6 days (I know he'll understand a token present) and my daughter's birthday in a couple of weeks....she's been through so much and I will hate having no money to spend on her for her 12th birthday. Really really low. Nothing I can do to change things, just wanted to tell someone how I feel.

Hey Joe
Things are never as bad as they appear, take a look here, you'll be surprised what a family can do with £25.00 for food, take a look here for birthday ideas, this is a great site for support and idea's, others will be along soon with their idea's.

Don't really know what to say. But as someone who has been to the bottom but am still here. Keep on in there. All we can do is weather storms. Know that's not much but ... having done a very foolish thing last year in this direction, in retrospect it wasn't worth it. We can only ever make do with what we have sometimes. And make the best of it. Work our way through it. Sorry, I'm all out of more encouraging words. Do what you can, not what you cannot. Hope that made sense.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Hey Joe, sometimes these things happen. How about focusing on the positive things that are happening in your life, 1) you've got kids that you love and that love you, 2) you've got a job (a lot of people would love to be in work at the moment), 3) you're starting out on a new and exciting relationship.
Okay sure you're skint at the moment, but lets look what things could be like if you weren't skint. Lets say you have £15k sitting in your bank account, but you have no job, no kids and no partner to share it with. Which option would you take?
Things will improve over time - okay it may not be this month or next month, but you're clearly committed to the cause and will get there.
Perhaps you should post up your statement of affairs (income and expenditure) as this will allow people to give you tips on where you may be able to save money.
Keep your chin up eh. Things could be a lot worse...0
