Help! Car Insurance and Car write off

Good evening all,

I am looking for some advice as I'm having real difficulties with my car insurance company. My car was written off over a month ago and I have still haven't received an aggreed settlement figure.

The advice I'm looking for is to see if I am being unrealistic in my expectations for the price of my car. The car was a ford mondeo 2003, 2.0 TDCI 115 LX. It had 107'000 miles on it. Full ford service history, 11 months mot, 8 months tax, excellent condition pre-accident.

The insurance company has offered £1450 which I have received a cheque for and have not cashed. They are refusing to budge even though I have sent numerous adverts showing that the average price in my area is much, much higher.

What would you expect to buy a similar car for? What car and glass' both state £2925 . Does anyone have access to Capcalc?

Many thanks
Louisa

I don't think the car is worth as much as £2925, looking at Parkers and vehicles on autotrader I thinks its nearer £2000 give or take.

    Which Insurer are you with?

They are normally not that bad.

Have you sent adverts for the exact same model, in the same condition and same mileage?

You have to remember that just because cars are advertised for an amount does not mean thats what they are selling for.

Did you receive the £1450 net of your excess? if so how much is your excess?
