Microsoft won't fix xbox 360 as it has been 'tampered' with?
Comments
-
what they mean by tampering is that the seals have been broken on either the back of the xbox or under the hd slot
apologies for sounding thick, but what do the seals at the back look like?
we took the front plate off and took a photo of the sticker that was on it-it hadn't been removed or ripped or anything.
I've been working lots this week so haven't had a chance to do anything about it, but I think I will call microsoft tomorrow and see how it has been 'tampered' with, and then I will call littlewoods to see what they can do-hopefully it will get sorted, but if not I will be back for more help because I'm really not ready to let this lie, but at the same time I'm not too sure of my rights etc, so would prefer guidance from you good people before I jump in and do something really daft!
thank you all for your responses, I really appreciate it, I was so angry the other dayMortgage free wannabe #124

thank you, I called them today, they asked me lots of questions (eg has anyone opened it, modded it, played pirated games on it etc) and asked me to check the face plate-I told them the sticker was in tact. They then said they had to contact repairs to find out how it was meant to be tampered with and they will phone me back within 72 hours to let me know. I've no idea if I'm being fobbed off or not but I'll wait and see.

Well, they asked me when they said they'd call, which time would suit me and I said anytime after 6pm, so of course they phone me at 1.30pm when I'm at work and can't take the call, they leave a message saying they couldn't repair it because its been tampered with (i was expecting more details since they'd already told us this!) So now my boyfriend has phoned them this morning and they were saying they couldn't repair it as it's been tampered with, and then they said it has been opened before it got to the repair centre, which we definitely didn't do-the only thing we did was check the sticker under the faceplate, but that was after it came back unrepaired. They said they would call us back within 48 hours to say what the problem is, but wouldn't put us through to a supervisor when we asked (apparently they're not available).
This just sounds like serious fobbing off to me, should I persevere with Xbox?Mortgage free wannabe #124

My son had the same problem. He bought it as 'previously owned' from Games Console (high st shop) and when it developed the ring of death, he went through the whole palaver with Microsoft - it was returned to Germany, then back to him with a note saying they wouldn't fix it because it had been tampered with. We cannot even see how to get it open, let alone how you get to these mysterious seals. He kept ringing Microsoft and pleading his innocence, but they wouldn't have any of it and in the end he gave up. He went back to the shop he bought it from and they weren't interested because he had lost his receipt in a house move. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place on the forum, but I can't find anything more recent on the subject. I'd just be really grateful for any advice anyone may have.Thanks.
