Old/Current Gas and Electricity Supplier

Hi All,
I am currently buying a repossession and I'm hoping to exchange contracts this week. But I was wondering how to find out the old/current energy suppliers. The EA doesn't know, the sellers are the repossession company and they don't seem to know (not surprising since they have sent the draft contract to the wrong solicitors twice!
), the post has been redirected and the postbox sealed to stop unwanted mail so no old bills to go by. Who do I ask?
Thanks in advance.

Just ring your current gas & leccy suppliers, tell them u are moving and they will either tell u they are the providers anyway, or give u a number to ring to find out who supplies the property.
Take a meter reading as soon as u move in as well as if the owners weren't paying their mortgage, they might not have been paying bills either.0 -
Sorry should have said I'm a FTB and don't have a current supplier, however I assume the advice still stands if I contact the supplier I would like and ask them.0

For gas - Transco meter number helpline 0870 608 1524, ask for your MPRN (Meter Point Registration Number) and details of current supplier
For elec - get the local electricity distribution company's phone number from the local phone directory /directory enquiries and ask for their Meter Point Administration Service (MPAS). Tell them that you need your MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) and they can tell you who the current supplier is.0
