Pobby everything is in a very fast decline at the moment, Week 9,10,11 is when we feel the impact of the Chinese new year, Week 12 onwards will point to the state of imports for the rest of the year.

Have to agree. for a number of industries I think that the slowdown has been happening for maybe 3 years. As I deal with a lot of indie companies, many of them are not experienced, properly capitalised so enjoying what was easy lending...oh heck, loads of things that are now coming home to roost.

Seriouisly, Mr.B, how are sales going? I know in my little field of niche electronics things are seriously down. To many people at it I guess.

    We are doing ok sir.
  • Why would they want to sell their goods at the market price when they have their hands in the tax payers pocket, paying for all their losses.
I don't really care for car manufacturers. If they can't afford to run, they should go into adminstration. I'm sick of this government folding and bailing out anything because of pressure from the unions. Bring back maggie! Its actually quite funny that we, consumers even think about buying new cars, its financial madness, and morally twisted.
Socialisting debts and privatising profits is the legacy labour is going to leave.

I never spend more than 200 quid on a car. They normally last me 4 years and if anything is going to cost more than the car I replace. I have done the sports car thing and loved it but would rather get the next sports car when I have paid the mortgage off. Next year my wage goes up to 40k I may spend 250.
When the bloody hell is nelly coming back?

Just wondering really, as there seems no "need" for car manufacturers to dwindle their stock down. They are getting government help, the continue producing at a level that sees their stockpiles get larger. Some of the cars now sitting in fields, docks etc are over a year old, but can still be sold as new (apparently this is not the case in other countries) as they are not registered. There is no time frame on how long they can sit there and still be sold as new either in the UK.

So basically buy a car today, brand new, on a 58 plate and you will probably get one up to a year old. Buy one in 6 months time, and it's bound to be over a year old. Just having sat there in the open air. Apparently there are some models over 20 months old sitting there waiting to be sold as new?

So will we see great car deals at all? I'm hearing lots of people saying dealers are simply not interested in striking a deal. Part of me thinks they know they will be ok thanks to government money anyway? Cynical?

So which UK based manufacturers are still churning cars out?

The impact will be felt in 2nd hand market in a few years time when the reduced volume of new car sales now feeds through into resale values.

It's an MG ZT 190, facelifted model so built sometime after Nov 2003 and before April 2005, but not registered until at least Mar 2008:eek:
