Will we ever see great car deals?

They are getting government help, the continue producing at a level that sees their stockpiles get larger. Some of the cars now sitting in fields, docks etc are over a year old, but can still be sold as new (apparently this is not the case in other countries) as they are not registered. There is no time frame on how long they can sit there and still be sold as new either in the UK.
So basically buy a car today, brand new, on a 58 plate and you will probably get one up to a year old. Buy one in 6 months time, and it's bound to be over a year old. Just having sat there in the open air. Apparently there are some models over 20 months old sitting there waiting to be sold as new?
So will we see great car deals at all? I'm hearing lots of people saying dealers are simply not interested in striking a deal. Part of me thinks they know they will be ok thanks to government money anyway? Cynical?
Dealers will always do a deal on a new car but they have certain margins to work to. There is only one thing worse than not selling a car and that is selling one at a loss.0 -

That Nissan Qazana looks a bit interesting (Micra replacement). Going to perhaps need cars which have a bit of rugged endurance about them, given many more roads could be left to deteriorate and become pot-holed in the next 3 to 5 years, as public money runs dry.0 -

Seriouisly, Mr.B, how are sales going? I know in my little field of niche electronics things are seriously down. To many people at it I guess.0

Pobby everything is in a very fast decline at the moment, Week 9,10,11 is when we feel the impact of the Chinese new year, Week 12 onwards will point to the state of imports for the rest of the year.Seriouisly, Mr.B, how are sales going? A car dealer chum of mine says quality used vehicles have been selling like hot cakes, new regs down year on year, but there are some fantastic bargains to be had especially if you like big engined gas guzzlers.
Mrs M got a new car in December (Motability) and the dealer (Mercedes Redhill) was quite upbeat, they'd sold 45 cars in the preceeding month about an even split between used and new.
There are some cracking PCP deals on new Mercedes at the moment if you can steer clear of the options lists and second hand the big models depreciation is so shockingly high in year one you can pick up some genuine 10-12 month old bargains.0
