Do these two things mean the same. The house we wish to buy has had the offer accepted and I have now started the ball rolling with solicitors etc, but on right move the house is 'under offer' I thought it would say SSTC.
Any suggestions or am I paranoid !!

Its means the same thing I think, you could ring the EA's and make sure they are not showing anyone around0

"under offer" generally means the seller has accepted the buyer's offer.
"SSTC" is usually used when things have progressed further, though technically it means the same and the sale could still collapse.
I'm ready to exchange yet the house is still shown as under offer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Cheers,
The day we put the offer in and accepted, viewings were cancelled. I'll just have to find something else to get paranoid about !!0 -
As long as viewings are stopped I don't think it matters. I'm collecting the keys to our house tomorrow and rightmove still only says "under offer"
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -
under offer is that stage between an offer accepted and completion, which is materially the same as SSTC."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0
-
Difference is:
"under offer" - what estate agent tells the public (e.g. someone has made an offer)
"SSTC" - jargon between solicitors, used when corresponding after an offer has been accepted but contracts not yet exchanged
Effectively the samething but referred to differently by different professions"...So...we've got a drop off, a double-cross, an ambush and then what?...then they shot a tramp..." :rotfl: [High Heels and Low Lifes]0
