VEGAS Trip Advice

I have booked a trip to vegas in August and was wondering about the possibility of travelling further west to theme parks such as disney and universal studios while im out there.

At 23 years old, am I right in saying I will be unable to rent a car? Are there any excursions available?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks

  • If you have never been to vegas believe me your have lots to see and do there..

As you are 23 my MASSIVE recommendations to you is to go to the Voodoo lounge its a bar club in the Rio Hotel and with your mates/partner buy a Witches brew and watch the vegas night below you - one of the best nights Ive had although can only remember parts of it! (dont forget to carry your id on you! americans are strict!)

    LA
anyhow if you were intrested you could hire a car im sure its over 21 (check out the hire websites) and drive to LA which takes 5 hours there is a great stop of half away along called Barstow which has a wicked outlet shopping place great place to stop and take a driving break - has timberland, CK ralph lauren , claire accessories etc etc

If not check out the greyhound coaches as they do the trip to LA from vegas may work out cheaper than hiring

The road itself is very straight forward one long road not much to see except desert but I have done this a few times (one way) so can be easily done

another tip fly into vegas and out of LA it may cost cheaper and if you fly Virgin not only is it direct flights to vegas but the chances of getting bumped of in LA are massive (meaning you could get another free flight in the future or money) s account for another day just in case and ask if they need anyone to come of the flight (they always over book out of LA and a very very busy USA airport)

Hope you meant the La version of universal and disney land if you are looking at florida then it will be internal flights as that would be a very long drive!

other vegas recommendations - great website to visit is https://www.britvegas.com

take a evening just to walk down the strip and see the shows from the Bellagio - fountains treasure island - battle between the english and the americas (we lose!) mirage the vocano and the lights and hotels

Go into Cesars Palace to the shopping mail

never did this but there are 3 rides on top of the stratopshere which are eye poping! great view as well

what hotel are you staying in

hope this helps and have fun
  • It's quite practical to travel from LV to Palm Springs and then onto LA if you hire a car. I think you are able to do this at 23.

Cheers for all your advice, really appreciate it!

As i am also 23 i can state you can drive a car though its not cheap as i came back from vagas at the end of Jan, I ended up going to tijuana Mexico as its great, cheap but a little grubby plus you can walk over the boarder. I hated vegas though other people love it, Also went to San Fran, San Deigo and LA in just over 2 weeks all from vegas.

Hello I am money saving experts resident theme park junky :)

Ill start with the shopping question. Theres more shopping in Vegas than you could hope to imagine for. From the 99 cent tacky fun stuff right up to channel him who wers the skirts is it gaultier? the 3 best are Aladins passage. Ceasars forum shops and Wynn hotel. Ill take it you know about all the rides in Vegas itself. Manhatan express in your hotel is 12 dollars. Speed the ride at sahara is a great ride.

Over in California apart from Universal and Disney is one of the top theme parks in the US/world, its call Six flags magic mountain, and has got some cracking rides. click me for magic mountain :)

We went to a six flags <
its a chain of parks, in New Jersey last year. They have a system called vip pass. Its not chaep its $100 each but worth it.

You get a sticker that you put on your t-shirt and you walk up the exit ramps and get straight on the ride NO WAITING at all. And if you like it you get straight back on again, we hit over 30 rides in a day, while there was 1 or 2 hour queues :)

Yep, can agree if you like coasters and thrill rides Six Flags Magic Mountain is a great theme park There is also a water park next to the main park if you want to take a day out lazing in the water. Magic Mountain is about an hour's drive north of LA on the I5.

You can hire a care if you are over 21 in the US but will pay a daily supplement of about $5 - $10 depending on the hire company. Normally one way drop offfs between Nevada and California locations are free.

    Premium Outlets

Las Vegas Outlet Centre (lloks like it's changed its name from Belz) I've never liked this one much , but perhaps it's improved

Boulevard Mall Another one i'm not struck on

    Fashion Show Mall

and there's also the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian hotel
Same old same old since 2008

Depends what time of year you go - as many of the hotels have some wicked swimming pools alhough some are closed january/feb etc (check out the hotel website) you may need to stay in the hotel to use the swimming pool

Circus circus is good for rides and there is lots going on down the strip that he could get into plus Nike town shop,

BIG TIP TO EVERYONE - when you visit vegas always keep your room key when you go home - when you revisit again you can use your room key to access the areas that hotel guests can only use e.g spa, swimming pools fun parcs etc lol works if you change hotels! will not work on the hotel rooms
Staying in the New York New York, went to NYC in March last year and loved it so we thought we get another tastle albeit artificial!
New York is a Great hotel on one of our first nights we went into the piano bar there and got really !!!!!! and ended up singing and dancing to all the requests did try coyote ugly bar but as a we were a group of girls was not really our cup of tea! - lots of men in there eyes bulgging at the coyoty girls on the bar doing there thing. We stayed in the Luxor this is connected nearly through treasure island

when you get into your room they should have the vegas guide this will give you a map of all the hotels and where all the bars, shops, food, casinos, rides, shows are

    have a good one

In my opinion it is an adult playground (gambling, strip shows, shopping etc). If you have a 12 year old with you, you won't be allowed to gamble at all (not even a cent) as children are only allowed to pass through on the marked walkways they have going through the casinos so if that is why you are going then best not take him. There are loads of attractions in the hotels - aquariums, tigers, lions Rainforest Cafe etc, which are fun for children, though if I was going with a child I would definitely combine it with a trip somewhere else too - Death Valley or Grand Canyon.
