Anyone got a baxi potterton boiler? i have and now i'm worried.

We have recently had a boiler installed . It is the baxi potterton 30 he boiler . All i have read since are terrible reviews but is it a case of having trouble so writing bad review or are they usually always awful?

Does anyone have one that they are pleased with?

Don't worry you have made your choice now, it may not be the best boiler but there will be thousands of these fitted that have no problems. Check to see what warranty you have and then make sure you follow the service guidelines so it stays valid.

For every bad review, there will be hundreds of people that have no problems. If your boiler has been installed well, then chances are you won't have too many problems. Relax and enjoy your nice warm house!

Baxi and Potterton have been amking heating appliances for many years even before they formed a partnership. Modern HE boilers require a good level of skill both to install them correctly and to maintain them. If a boiler isnt fitted correctly then it may well be problematic from day one.

The secret is finding a high qwuality, conscientous and capable installer.

Unfortunately these are becoming very rare as they all get older and retire.

They are being replaced by a certain quantity of get rich quick merchants trained on the cheap and given bits of paper to say they are qualified.

Chances are then, that you only read about the dodgy ones and they are probably dodgy becuase of poor install, repairs.

So dont worry. They are a known, long established brand and there is a lot lot worse out there.
  • Hi, We had a Baxi Platinum installed 2 yrs ago (complete system install). No probs whatsoever. They can't be that bad if Baxi are confident enough to offer a 5yr warranty!

we've come from a property with a 1 year old Potterton Promax system boiler to a new one with a 6-7 year old Potterton Performa 28i non-condensing combi...I see a lot of people slating the 28i. All I've had to do on ours is repressurise it and the helpline guy talked me through that.

As with everything in life, sometimes you get a lemon. So far, I have nothing but good feelings toward Potterton/Baxi. (Even if I DID say on the phone "Hello, is that Batterton Poxi?"...:o)

it will be fine, a lot of problems come from bad installation and not having the system power flushed to remove any debris/corrosion in the system. a friends had a potterton combi for 4 years without any problems.

have you had a magnaclean fitted on it at all? these are very good, ive got one on mine. it collects any oxide particles in the system thus preventing them from going through the boiler and clogging up valves etc in the boiler. theyre not cheap but theyre good.

We had a Potterton Netaheat for about 30 yrs with very few problems. The only reason that we changed it was to get a condensing boiler. My elderly sister still has one that is going well after more than 35 years. I cannot comment on the latest Pottertons however. As we now have a Glowworm.Energysaver. It has been faultless for over 5 years.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Potterton Netaheats are bomb proof. Incredibly reliable. There is one thing that can go wrong but I wont bore you with the details as I dont want you to have disturbed sleep and it'll probably never happen to you;)
  • I have a Suprima 60He and it has yet to miss a beat.. Potterton got a bad name for the old Suprima which used to go through PCB's every few months.

The new Suprima He does not suffer from the PCB failures as they have been completly redsigned. This model is not the most efficient condensing boiler on the market but it is a very simple design which does the job it is designed for and in my case it is one of the few boilers on the market that still allow the use of a 15mm gas pipe... which saved a whole load of work and money when my boiler was installed.

At the end of the day Potterton have been around since the dawn of time so you will be able to get spares 10 years down the line and despite what some plumbers say they are still a good boiler.... So dont worry about your choice:)
