Hello all.
Basically ive been laid off yesterday. Everything ive read on this forum suggests that self employed people are not eligable to claim anything because we pay NI class 2 and 4 and not 1 like PAYE.
WHY WHY WHY. can someone explain why. And also what my options are to help me pay my bills and house rent. Ive got to wait till thursday morning for CAB interview.
Basically a company sub contracted me out to do plastering for a big construction company.
thanks for any help.

Yep jfdi is right. You can only claim income-based JSA.
Personally I think it's a ruse to keep unemployment figures down in times of economic trouble as it's more difficult to claim.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
because you don't pay as much into the pot as someone paying class 1 when you include the employers contributions0
-
Because you pay less money on average than others who contribute over 23.8%(employees & employers) on earnings above £105 per week. Not Again0
