Anyone using a gas powered tumble dryer?

I know using the dryer is an extremely wasteful past-time, but during nesting season we have so many tenants, the laundry just hasn't got a chance outside.
I've changed the heating to gas, and had the option of installing a gas-powered dryer - but I couldn't bring myself to spend over £200 in order to save a few pence per cycle.
Now it seems that the electric dryer is not functioning as it should - and at 20 years of age I don't think it owes me too much. The laundry is taking far too long to dry in the dryer (about double the time it used to) - so one way or another, I'm going to replace the old thing.
Anyone know if it is much cheaper to run the gas version? That's what was told to me by the gas suppliers a number of years ago, (they would say that, wouldn't they?) but then there's been such an increase in fuel prices since then.
Anyone got experience of these?
TIA

Haven't got one myself but have been tempted.
Can't help with specifics I'm afraid but I've read and heard loads of positive stuff from peeps who have a gas drier and they generally say it's much better than electric - quicker and cheaper. I've yet to read or hear anything bad about them.
I think I may well go down this route when my present electric one packs in.Herman - MP for all!

I had one when they first came out. Gas fitters from all over Cumbria came to look at it! It was a White Knight.
Its now around 16 years old and still going strong. My ex-husband has it as I left it when I left. I loved it. It was quiet, much cheaper to run and not too bad to buy. I remember he stopped smoking for a wee while to pay for it.
I remember that if the room was over a certain size it wouldn't need venting but in actual fact it did. I complained and they vented it for free.
