Housemates Not Paying Bill

No. Only way would be for each room to have a meter and separate accounts. One supply, one meter, one bill - all jointly and solely responsible.0

A couple more questions! a prepayment meter would solve this problem and probably be the best solution, is there a cost involved in this? (surley its in npowers intrests aswell), how long would it take to get the meters changed over?0

How would a PPM solve the problem?
If your HMs don't intend to pay, they won't pay anyway and probably will go down the pub whilst you go and buy some credit (or sit in the dark)
All you'll end up doing is paying more since PPMs are generally more expensive."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I already avoid the house as much as possible anyway! With a ppm they wouldn't be able to rack up a huge bill in my name, the extra rates seem small (split 4 ways) compared to me having to pay the entire bill!0

Well my housemates have used the energy (I am very tight with my usage, my housemates are completly careless, probably because they don't intend on paying), This is causing me masses of stress and I spend far to much time worrying about it, what I have gathered so far is that there is nothing I can do to avoid this?!! This seems so wrong that this is the way the system works, I'd be better off having no intention of paying from the outset!! as the only honest person it seems I am the one who is going to suffer the consequences. And yes I do need new housemates but this is not an option till next year!
We have suggested avenues to explore, stop stressing and actually do something. Life ain't fair, welcome to the real world! Your housemates put your name on the bill, you can return the favour. You probably have a six month tenancy, so hand in your notice at the end of five months and make alternative arrangements. :rolleyes:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Have you checked that the bill is correct? Is it an estimated bill? If so send a meter reading.0

You are in a real pickle here. As stated by other posters, you are responsible for this debt.
You really need to do something to limit the damage for the future as it is obvious that your flat-sharers will continue to take a lend of you. Perhaps:
1. Move on if this is possible
2. Change the meters to prepayment
or
3. Have the utilities turned off.
I fear that sooner or later you are going to get a shock with other concerns ...council tax, water rates. Perhaps even other debts suddenly appearing in your name.
You have to do something!
best wishes anyway

I would say ppm's may be the best option, npower will do this for you anyway when the bill doesn't get paid.0

i would check the meter readings on the bills
when is your tennancy agreement from/to. Is this the first bill or are there previous bills also unpaid (or does this value include a balance from a previous bill)?Indecision is the key to flexibility0
