Mixture of aboveSo it's the spending money on a wedding bit you have issues with rather than than the accepting

I think a lot depends on what you want from a wedding as well......hopefully we will have a lovely day to look back on and lots of lovely photographs. And as we are doing as much as we can in true MSE style we're making sure we stick to a sensible budgetMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Mixture of aboveWell, we are having a smallish wedding for around 4k
H2B's parents are giving us £500 for the reception, my parents are giving £600 for reception and £400 for our honeymoon accomodation. Most of the rest was paid off as I went along, and I have money aside to pay for taxis etc on the day, but unfortunately we have just heard then H2B is being made redundant, so the last £700 we need to pay things off the day after the wedding will have to go on a credit card.
So a mix of all on the list.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. to me the wedding just makes it harder to break up, and now we jointly own a house it would be a nightmare anyway

Mixture of aboveKavanne, I was in a kinda similar situation. When we bought our first house 2 years ago, my parents said that they would either pay the £x for the house deposit or the same amount for a wedding. We snapped their hand off for the deposit - as we weren't planning on getting married then!! A year later we got engaged and I've not asked them for a penny for the wedding because of the house. Mind you we did have to get a Declaration of Trust for the house so that if H2B and I split up, my parents get their money back

Fortunately, H2B's parents have offered to pay 50% of the total reception cost which is a huge help.0 -
Mixture of aboveMy dad is paying for the venue, food.. etc and me and H2B are saving money for the decorations, dresses, suits and the smaller things whilst at the same time buying things as we go along

Oh and FIL paying for rings and MIL paying for flowers!0
