We each have an ISA and a Barclays saving account (opened whilst it was the higher rate) but we'll still have to use the credit card a bit probably. My parents were able to give us a small amount but their money was all in investments and they lost a huge amount when all this happened.

Ours is a mixture of savings and help from parents. Although my contribution is the honeymoon and some of that may have to go on my flexible friend :o

Savings and parents (they are paying for the reception and cars but should come in at less than £5k).

I wouldn't dream of getting a loan/credit card for a wedding, I am a firm believer that if people can't afford a lavish wedding etc they should cut their cloth accordingly. If we didn't have the money for the wedding (we've been saving for what feels like forever) then we would be scaling down.

our oppinions are like that if we cant afford it one month then we dont get it and look for a cheaper one , as i have no parents to help pay and hubb2bs parents are on a pension its all down to us , but we are like that with everything if we have the money we have it ,if not we dont ! we have still managed to have most things for our wedding even little things like crystals and nice gifts just been a bargin hunter lol

i'd never ask my mum or parents in law to give us money for a wedding and i wouldn't accept it if they offered. in fact, they did offer and we said would it be OK if we bought a house instead? they were far happier with that lol

How is accepting money for a wedding any better than accepting money for a house??

We used our own money for house......which is probably why we had none left for wedding!!!

Because we have something to show for it at the end (I feel), something tangible. You can't sell a wedding after you've bought it if you need to lol

But of course everyone feels differently.
