Dividing home after separation: what's fair? The sequel

Hello
Several of you were kind enough to take the time to post good advice to my query of Saturday (am a newbie so don't know how to reference previous posts) about how to disentangle myself from my ex-fiance and our joint home in a fair and equitable way.
Well, we had agreed that he would pay me my £175K share of last July's sale price of £350K, plus my associated costs ie Stamp Duty, solicitor's fees etc etc, plus an extra few thousand, bringing the total to £185. The mortage company was satisfied that the ex could afford to buy me out and I was assured that the money would be in my bank account by the end of March at the latest. So, yesterday I put in an offer on my dream batchelorette pad and was busy planning my new Sex and the City lifestyle (with the emphasis on the former
) - only to get a call from the ex telling me that he can't afford to give me the full sum straight away because his solicitor has just informed him that he will have to pay another £10K in Stamp Duty to complete the transfer of our home to his sole ownership.
Two questions: firstly, am I allowed to swear on this forum?
Secondly, is there a sneaky way around this Stamp Duty scenario?
Many thanks!

Have you got a solicitor? I would speak to one and see what they say!! I wouldnt have thought there is a way round it to be honest - but it might be worth checking that he is telling the truth - are you on quite good terms with him?
Think if you swear in here it might get cut out!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
You cant swear (it even cuts out things that might look a bit dodgy!!!!)
I think there will be ways around the stamp duty question, he can buy carpets and furniture off you, rather than pay the extra towards your share. Your solicitor will be able to tell you what can and cant be done, and the amounts involved.0
