Is this the same black whole that was mentioned during the interview?.
I'm referring to issues callers had regarding funding for training courses and businesses such as the company who sells electric vehicles.PWC thinktank has predicted (using lots of figures) that there is a blackhole somewhat larger than the size of Calcutta and all Brown said was that "these reports are coming out everyday and are meaningless" - so nicely dodged the question. Nothing about his meaningless press releases we get everyday.
That statement tells me two things: there are daily reports and he is ignoring or discarding them. Sounds like he is digging a PR hole. That leaves hindsight or at best firefighting / go with the flow. It's not all his fault, hindsight is something none of us posses - but if he hadn't denied the reality for so long before acting, if he hadn't just lurched into poor problem solving mode and had been a bit more honest at the dispatch box rather than trying to score political goals - we'd probably be riding out a slightler less drastic wave.
I agree it is not all his fault. What is not clear, at least to myself, is how much tighter regulation would have insulated the uk economy given that the lending markets are global anyway.0 -
Brilliant!
I thought about putting in my post - the only person I can imagine doing it would be Paxman!
Apparently it is not all that it seems, he was told to keep the interview going as they were not ready with next item on the schedule

Are you one of those ToryBots that are paid to float round the boards and enhance the party reputation
or even better devalue the opposition. 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Why do people never say - you have not answered my question? And keep repeating it until he does or looks so stupid it ends up going down in history?
I just will people or the interviewer to ask for an on topic answer from these b*******ers but they never do. It's just a farce.
Because then no politician would ever give any interviews.
Anyway, sure what's not said can be just as relevant as what is said.0
