What's the betting we'll get 'Sympathetic Brown (c)' with his furrowed brow of concern....but no actual answers.

He'll tell us how he feels our pain but that he is the right one to bring us out of this mess. Can we also start a sweepstake as to how many times he'll mention the word "Global"?.

Sorry, my cynic meter is twitching high today - for which I apologise in advance.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I thought about submitting a 'question' then decided I was too disillusioned to even bother with that. still, I hope a saver who is not retiring or retired but rather saving to buy has posed a query.

ETA: he doesn't sound too furrow browed to me today, more a little beligerant.

His presentation style is fantastic, truly soporific.

He is the reincarnate of Nixon and I claim my prize.

Caught the first half hour then had to get back to work....there was a question from a guy asking why a bank lends money to a business then pulls the rug from under that business - the bank gets it loaned money back and leaves everyone else getting 2p in the £1 from the administrators.

Brown just kept repeating the same answer - the banks are starting to lend money again - but it didn;t answer the qeustion and the poor caller rephrased it several times for the PM and he still went with his stock answer.

He did come very very close to apologising for the situation as a whole (but it wasn't actually sorry and it was only acknowledgement that 'global' things had put us where we are today) but it was close enough for him to say he stands by all the actions he has overseen sinbce by Chancellor to date.

  • Gordon Brown is a first class knob whose idea of running the economy is to see how many votes he can buy in the process.

Why do people never say - you have not answered my question? And keep repeating it until he does or looks so stupid it ends up going down in history?

I just will people or the interviewer to ask for an on topic answer from these b*******ers but they never do. It's just a farce.

Because they are mesmerised by his sparkling wit and repartee. That added to his charismatic, affable personality often wrongfoots people.

The last email comment was apt. It was from a gent who suggested that Gordons Browns earphones were not working as he didn't answer the questions at all just kept repeating the same thing

Listen to the interview again on the podcast.

Now download the Mark Thomas podcast, where he interviews Vince Cable.

It's like chalk and cheese. VC is a class above.

Sure, VC may not have the answers to the problems we face, but he doesn't deny the existence and severity of these problems.
