Nigerian scam that is very common nowadays as they trawl dating sites.Usually they ask a man/woman to send them money for flight costs or for an ill relative.

If this person has been sending emails, then check the full email headers for the originating IP address, and then use ripe.net to check where the IP address is registered. I suspect it will be somewhere in West Africa.

This is a very sad Scam, plus solders in Iraq save lots of money whilst out there and should be able to pay this if it was possible which it is not.

Okey just asked my fiance (a soldier for 8 years now) i just asked him randomly "can you buy yourself out of the army while in iraq?" and his reply was " ofcourse you cannae buy yourself out of the army and ESPECIALLY no out of f'ing iraq! who the f*** is asking that!? " lol sorry, that was just his reply (army... swearing... atroucious) so.. there ya go that's what he says. he also adds " you can only get out once your contract is up and you have to give them a years nottice... or you can take drugs"

you cannot buy yourself out whilst on operational tour or after being warned of operational tour. If you are on an open engagement ie 12 months notice to leave you can PVR (buy yourself out) any other time however the money is not paid up front and is taken out of your wage as you work a month in hand so hope this answers the question.

Hi all, and thanks for the replies. Been away for a few days so been unable to get online.

Anyway, it gets better.........not.

Now he has told her he is actually serving with the US Army. And that he told her originally that he was British to protect her. Methinks he is getting his stories mixed up.

I asked her to find out a bit more about him, get him on the webcam etc. He cant talk about himself too much, he can see her on the webcam but he is not allowed to let her see him as it is too risky. (Starting to sound familiar?)She has seen photographs of him(well supposedly of him) but has not spoken to or seen him with her own eyes yet.

ps I dont know if it ok to post this but I found out his name, whether it is really his or not is another matter, and it is Sergeant Frank Por-Daz.

edit. Now he says he wants to move to Scotland and buy a petrol station. And that he is a widower with a young son
