International Bank Transfer Refund!Help

Options
I know alot of you reading this will think "stupid girl" for falling for this, and I am inclined to agree with you

My problem is, I purchased something a few weeks ago from the site digitaltechmart.com.They only accepted bank transfers! So I go to the bank and arrange for money to be sent

A few days later, I receive an email of digitaltechmart saying payment has been receieved and my order is being processed.

Problem is, this was over a week ago! I emailed them a few days ago for an update and have received no reply. I have since found out from other forums that this is a fake website.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do next. I paid direct from an account which has a debit card, so Im not sure if Im protected.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • I have done exactly the same thing with the same company. They sent me confirmation by post and since then have not contacted me at all. Is there anything I can do?

If you sent a direct bank transfer (ie you didn't pay on your card) then there is virtually nothing that can be done.

Bank transfers are not recallable and the bank doesn't even have to tell you who the account belongs to. Your only hope if you have other contact details is to speak to the police and maybe CAB to see if it is possible to go down the small claims route.

For a buyer though a bank transfer is just about the least secure method of making a payment.

surely police should be able to do something...
it cant be that easy to offer goods for sale only via bank transfer, then just take the money? everyone would be at it

The only thing that could be done is to take the small claims court route.

The police wouldnt be able to do much as you willingly transferred a miscellaneous amount of money to this account and you would be hard pressed to prove it was for the product.
  • has anyone done a small claims towards this?
    who/what do you claim against?
all i have is the website, and the bank details i sent money to for the goods....

    is it still possible?
