DELL Delivery

Options
I recently ordered a new computer from Dell, before committing myself to buy the computer I was told delivery would be within 10 working days. However, after taking my money I was told that in fact delivery would be in nearly 6 weeks time.

Is there anything I can do about this? I don't want to cancel my order, just want to claim some money back (delivery was £20), or ask for some other form of reimbursement.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have a legal right to be put in the position you were in before this happened, that is you have a right to cancel (even if you haven't been missold you have a right to do this in 7 working days under the distance selling regulations). You do not have a right to compensation, however since they have missold it would be an idea to try to haggle with them, politely threatening to cancel your order, and if they don't give in then doing so.

I don't know whether you should be nice or strict when bartering (MSEers can go either way), but at some point - either when you're bartering or when they've rejected your claim to compensation - tell them you will be contacting the OFT to complain about misselling you (I emphasise that they won't help you out if Dell have offered you the right to cancel, but they might shout at dell if they're not selling as described)
