Avis Car Hire - Tesco Deals -Rip Off??????

Have just hired a car in Malage through Tesco Deals (£233 in vouchers) for a period of 9 days. When I booked, the Avis rep. told told me the there is a 619 euro excess to pay in the event of theft or any damage. The rep. then told me that by paying 12 euros per day I could purchase excess waiver. This seems extortionate when the likes of Holiday Autos charge £2.50 per day. Does not now seem like quite a good deal. Any thoughts?

Always go for 'inclusive' car hire deals, unless you have your own insurance.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Thanks for the thought - will look at them for next time as I have already booked thro' Tesco Deals. It is more the 12 euros a day for "excess waiver" that has got right up my hooter (no pun intended). This is optional, but the 619 euros isn't, if the wheel should come off (I apologise on this occasion). cant think of any way round this. Thanks again Les and Rich.JD790
