0% interest n/a if you've worked abroad....

Spent hours chasing a cc that will allow me to transfer my balance and get a 0% 6 months interest free deal, as a one-off (no tarting!). Just moved back to England after some years working abroad so major initial expenses. However the cc cos I've tried all insist on 3 years prior UK residency to qualify. Anyone know of one that doesn't and isn't linked to MBNA?

have a look here I think there is a list on their page,also try the A-Z providers listing on the left.As with other that have been abroad make sure you are on the electoral register with your local council and maintain you bank account well and you will have a better chance of getting a credit card with your current bank.
The other option would be for your partner to get a card and you both use it.

I got a capital one card within a year of moving back to the UK. I also have a credit card with my bank and I won't have 3 years of addresses until august 2006.

I will try the Clydesdale Bank in branch as they have a 0% deal on a Mastercard; however they process the application so slowly (3 weeks) that by the time I get it, the balance transfer may be academic . Found that possibility on that website, thank you. M&S may work but I can't get past the address on their website (UK or BPSO only) and hanging on for over 1/2 hour for a person...I hung up!

Sorry I should have made clear - partner and I both were abroad; we do have an existing UK MBNA linked card, so need to find a card with balance transfer at 0% for 6 months or so, not linked to MBNA. Should have sorted it out before spending the dosh, right?!
