Student Credit Card Debt

Hi,
I was wondering whether you could help us students out!?
Students are not the best in keeping a good credit record. I know a fair few students who have a bad credit rating with credit cards debts up to £2000.
If you've got a bad credit history how can we start being a 'Tart' with balance transfers?
What options have we really got? Banks won't accept us because we're not working/bad credit history
I couldn't find anything in the forums about this so I thought I'd mail you.
Thanks
ajkenth

im a student with v good credit and available credit card borrowing of 3500. having a credit card doesnt mean you have a bad credit rating. quite the opposite, being accepted for credit cards generally means a good credit rating.:A Boots Tart :A0

going over your overdraft...late payments on credit cards accumulates to bad credit history...i know i have a bad credit history...i just wanted to know what to do to recover my credit history. How can i apply for a balance transfer on a card?0

surely if you've managed to accumulate so much bad credit with punitive charges (theres a thread on banks board about claiming these back as they are illegal) you would not want to take out more credit cards?
id be a credit card tart too, but id rather swap my debts over to the lowest credit card rate, and pay if all off, than chase loads of different rates.
if you wait 6 years, your credit history gets written off from more than 6 years ago, so be really good for 6 years, you should be ok later on, when you need to apply for a mortgage.
maybe you should ask for advice from the credit cards board?:A Boots Tart :A0 -
having a bad credit rating does not depend on being a student it depends on not being savvy with your money, over-spending, being late with cc payments, taking on debt you cant manage etc.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0
