I couldn't justify buying an e-reader so bought an R4iii for my Nintendo because it said I could use it to read e-books. Anyone know how I use it to do this? What format do the files have to be in? Hints? Tips?

Sounds like you need to read up on Moonshell:

It certainly includes a text reader, but whether this supports proper eBook formats (e.g. PDF) I do not know.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
Is it possible that what you have read about is the '100 Classic Book Collection' which can be bought (or illegally downloaded to the R4 card, but don't think we're allowed to discuss that)?:

I have no idea what it's talking about, it gives comprehensive instructions for accessing the files but no clue as to what kind of files it will access. I know it won't cope with .pdf
I don't want to spend hours sorting it out (spent 6 hours sorting out the kids' N5 and R4 cards last week) life's too short.
Thanks for the tips - I'll start reading! :TEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

OK, the answer is that I have no idea how many formats it supports but, after trial and error and finally asking the expert (the 9 year old who lives 3 doors down)...
the R4 supports .txt
So that's easy then, I can just convert my .pdf files and I'm away to my deck chair - come on sun!Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Thanks for posting this! I was wondering myself how to read ebooks (have the classic book collection but prefer to read more modern stuff).OK, the answer is that I have no idea how many formats it supports but, after trial and error and finally asking the expert (the 9 year old who lives 3 doors down)...

Just to let you know, there are thousands of free ebooks available on Scribd which you can convert to txt on the site for download.0 -
To be more specific - it supports US-ASCII text files, some of the characters allowed in other formats can't be translated...Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Ive been reading ebooks for a while on my ds. I found that downloading them in pdf format was best, then opening it on my pc and clicking file and save as text to my micro sd. only problem is some of the books i have recently been downloading have links written into them and it messes with the convertion and misses bits out etc. I now download them on to my itouch via an application called stanza0
