Bidding Strategy

Don't take this the wrong way but I do need to tell it how it is in EA's especially the older more experienced ones. The EA will know what the seller expects and as such has little or no interest in spending time listening to the would be buyers logic and arguments as to why their offer is right.
Again I repeat don't take this as a point of view I necessarily agree with but it IS the mentality of most EA's I have know.
For some reason the EA thinks i got more money than im letting on, the reason im explained my bid, is to make them understand that i will not pay above the market value. And that trying to push me into making a big bid in the region of 105k is pointless.
All im trying to do is let them know that im well informed, i do my research and basically i wont be taken for a ride.
If the EA keeps insisting that i bid near 105k and actually negotiate then its going to be very frustrating.0 -

It is usual for those bidding to make, what they say is their 'final offer' as they can't go a penny higher, then to go a lot higher. So these statements are regularly heard by EA's and even where a person can NOT go higher the EA will assume they can because of other would be buyers and offers they have made in the past.
I would hate to be in your shoes and despite the many suggestions already made to you the techniques in haggling may be varied but I often feel whatever the technique the outcome will be the same.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build.
