Income protection insurance and Jobseekers allowance

Would receiving a monthly insurance payment affect your entitlement to JSA?
Say you had the foresight a year ago to take out a policy, would you be punished for this when it came to seeking JSA?
The insurance policy does warn that it 'may'.

I am claiming both mortgage protection and income protection, on seperate policies; I received contributions based JSA from the 4th day I was unemployed, even though my notice period had 12 weeks to run.
There was no deduction from my JSA. However, I understand that if you are claiming income based JSA, they would consider the payment of Income protection, quite rightly, as "Income" and would therefore make adjustments to your means tested JSA.
If I was claiming income based JSA, I wouldn't get any JSA at all, but would still sign on to get my insurance credits.

ETA ....JobCentrePlus certainly don't punish people for trying to look after themselves by taking out these policies; I have paid in thousands over the last 10 years, in premiums. The JobCentre staff I've spoken to when getting my ABI1 forms completed, all say "Good For You!!!" and seem to wish more people had done this.0
