Laptop Battery

this happend with me with my new laptop:( but i had to chage it because of another problem, and on my old one it was 1h2min(around) and the new one 1h20min WOW!!, the reason was i think is i sometimes move around alot so i unplug it(still on) and when i get to my new location i plug it back in again not good for the battery!, so if i have o unplug it i leave it off untill it goes out. its like a mobile phone you should let it down completly before charging not in the middle if it still has power i noticed this alot when i started doing it properly

Some really good info here in Li-Ion batteries, and what happens to them. It doesnt matter that it is talking about Apple laptops.... http://www.apple.com/batteries/

As has been said full charge and discharge then full charge again should help, and dimming the screen display, and only having essential programs running will help your running time.....

Oh, and my Apple laptop will do about 5 hours off one charge.......

As laptop batteries go £77 isn't too bad - I had a Toshiba Satellite which was £130 for a new battery ! Just paid £66 for a Dell one and considered it a bargain. Frightening innit?
Another thing to be aware of especially if you're buying from Dixons etc. is that you don't end up with an ex display laptop that has been on the shelf with the battery in and on charge for a month.

purchased a ex display Sony Vaio from Dixons a few years back ( lovely bit of kit- sadly died after about 4 yrs , but I did work it hard)- spent hours loading everything onto it , only then to find out battery would die after 10 mins- took it back and demanded either a refund or a new battery - they did the latter - believe at time retailing at about £270

James is it the PB E6100 ( 1/2 price deal last year ) - notice batteries sometimes come up on ebay , although often without this model number listed, so need to search on Packard Bell or NEC batteries to see if you find a match... OK Ebay batteries can be hit and miss on quality, again if its the E6100 I would be careful about spending too much , as would not say its the best laptop I have ever seen.
