they wiil try and hide the faults..take a camera..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thanks for replys, when we first viewed the house i wrote a few things down that we could see needed doing so will check on them.0

thats correct.I have had 3 new houses and each one has been different. You usually look around as you said, checking items out for faults. We hardly found any with this house and we are experienced at it! Good builder! Other houses, we found had the vent above the windows filled in,so they emptied those, a black scrape mark on bathroom sink, which wouldnt come off,(i wasnt really all that bothered about that so they offered money off instead of fitting new sink!) Run every tap to check boiler working, and that pipes dont leak,do upstairs first, then when you come down see if anymarks on ceiling where water may have leaked! That actually happened in my "used" house, even turn boiler on for rad check and fire on,try every light switch, check for finish on plugs, light switches,Check for any cracks in windows(again we had a couple of scratched windows but no big deal to me)loft hatch, try and pop head up if you can, they may have dumped stuff up there, our builder dumped double the amount of insulation,no wonder this house is flippin warm!
outside i would check window fit, doors lock, windows all have a lock,pointing,vents...erm thats it for now, write all this down and tick off as you go.!hope this helpsTO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0
