Are rawl plugs needed for ceiling batons?

Options
Hi I am going to put up batons on the ceiling and secure them by screwing them into the boards above (first floor), and then put plasterboard onto the batons.

Do I need to drill out the beams above and put rawl plugs in or will just ample screws be sufficient?

Thanks.

rawl plugs are normally used for brick/stone where the thread on the screws cant cut and hence get a hold into the material. For screwing into beams just use screws, thats what they are meant for :)

When you say that you are going to screw them to the boards above, presumably you mean to the joists.
Why are you needing to put up battens. If you are intending to over board the existing ceiling then you will need to find the joists on which to fix the battens. If you have to find the joists anyway, then having found and marked them, you might just as well fix the boards directly to the joists. In any event, there will be no requirement for wall plugs. Although quite often a pilot hole is a good idea.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
