ashes tickets ballot!

Options
i recently entered a ballot through Yorkshire county council (so not a dodgy ticket company) to get some tickets for the upcoming ashes series (2009) i had to give my bank details on application and was told that i would receive an email after the draw telling me whether i was successful or not. I received no such mail until monday 2/3/09 but on the 28/2/09 i was billed £220, i would not have had any problem with this had the payment not taken me over my overdraft and because i did not know i have incurred bank charges adding up to £196. I had the money for the tickets in another account and if i was successful was simply going to transfer it over, even now i still do not know how many tickets i have, which day they are for or an actual bill from YCCC, i only know i am successful because my account is missing alot of money, please help, surely a company cannot take money out of your account without billing you whether they have your bank details or not!
thanks tomanderin

    Sounds reasonable to me

You applied for tickets and gave those details, they attempted to bill you and you didnt have the money in.

They couldnt give people notice etc otherwise they would end up with hundreds of declined transactions and left over tickets and added work.

Anyone who has entered a ballot for sports events before will know this system fine.

You've provided details of your bank account so you can't be upset when they hve been used.
