Unless it is in your contract you will most likely loose the company car/mobile phone/laptop, etc, on the last day you are there.. They might still let you keep the car, but then it is up to them.

Phone ACAS, or speak to a solicitor. As a Director you should be treated as any other employee of the company. I'm not aware of any payment for loss of office.

the way I understand it is that you are getting taxed for use of the company car and therefore should be entitled to use it during your notice period?

Alternatively I would imagine you would get a rebate at the end of the financial year?

Also if they were to finish me early and pay me in leu of notice can I keep the car until the (normal) 12 week notice has finished or do I have to give it back on the day I finish?

Pay in lieu of notice should compensate you for your total loss.

If you are not on garden leave (where you would be paid normally during your notice period and therefore have the use of the car for that period - unless it was provided solely for your use in the business), you should expect to give up the car at the point your employment ends but you should receive more than just a payment in lieu of basic salary.

Never heard of such a thing as compensation for loss of office...

I was made redundant when a Director and got the same redundancy pay as everyone else made redundant at the same time. I did get to keep my car for a while but I don't think I had a right to it. Little voice is right - if your employment ends and you are paid in lieu of notice -ie free to take up other employment immediately - then you may have to give the car up at that point. You will no longer be an employee and not covered by the company's insurances.

You can argue for compensation for the other perks but as I see it, Directors have to take some responsibility for the company being in the circumstances leading to job losses, so should not benefit from redundancy disproportionately to anyone else.
