Well LIR when we got in from work/school we did indeed curl up in front of the fire in PJs and watched a lovely film while drinking hot chocolate and eating toast and jam it was marvelous!

The weather up here is wild, it is very blustery and the rain has been pouring on and off all day. Mind you it has not been as bad as I thought it would be although it may pick up over the course of the night.

    evening all.

we had the high winds and a bit of rain last night but i was so tired i slept through most of it... its been mild and dry all day ! where my house is only divided between me and the solent by a field it tends to act like a wind tunnel !! :(

alas Nelly no kneck is no more....for definite this time....bit spooky and i have checked on her several times today just incase...but no she has "gawn"....sorry LIR

this morning i could not find my mobile phone  and as i was exhausted last night, i sat with a constant stream of tea this morning before i could recall my movements and then spent hours trecking round animal pens, emptying my sons car [used for airport run] then my van [took big dog back to owners after stay last night] then my house...couldnt ring it as battery was flat [should hav recharged on return but forgot  ] my land line kept ringing as people were concerned at me not answering my mobile !! so by 1pm i was exhausted...again !!
and you know when you get a brain flash and then think "no,dont get your hopes up"...well as i plonked down dejectedly mourning my loss, my hand reached down the side of the sofa and ....yes ...there it was ...didnt know wether to:rotfl: or ....

tomorow im at friends all day cleaning out/sorting animals for her. wednesday i may be off to the IOW to "check" on her house there and dispatch any cobwebs.. she pays costs and tells me to take the dogs and give them a lovely walk on the beach. hard job but someones got to do it !:D

LIR.... did you see pic of woodchip..any good if i can get transport from here ??[free of course:D]

alfie, will get back to you later in the week, but if I take it I will certainly pay for transport! I don't expect anyone to be out of pocket/diesel for me, and fair to pay for time too!

i think the crime figures in my area was 65:o

Davesnave, soooooooooooooooo glad you were ok, i dread to think would could have happened.....

i am getting really mad with myself, as i cant seem to raise/earn/save any more money:mad: I seem to be going backwards to be honest, as what ever money i have saved i have had to 'dip' into it for one reason or another.

The last 2 weeks i have really knuckled back down in trying to get our shopping bill back on track, kids are now taking packed lunches to school, and htey can like it or lump it.....:p plus we are also taking packed lunches to work...

Hopefully the run of the vintage fairs that will be coming up in October/novemeber will bring in a few pennies...:j

All quiet on the western front this morning, though yesterday was more bluster than substance.

In the late afternoon, it being dry, I ventured out to try the ride on mower, having been loaned a heavy-duty jump starter. All went well for 5 minutes and then the drive belt to the blades just snapped. It looked pretty ropey, so I guess it was due for renewal. Eventually, I'll get that thing going!

I'm not impressed with the mole trap. We have at least two of the little devils front & back, but every time I've set the trap, it's tripped but failed to catch anything. Yesterday I tried it out on myself and discovered that the darned thing is only working in slow motion, so it's no wonder I've failed. Bad design. :(

Alfie, that's why I keep my mobile charged up. I can just about remember to do that once a week, which then saves me remembering where I've put it. Yesterday I searched high & low, only to find by ringing it, that it lay in a concealed pocket in the jacket I was wearing.:o

Anyone remember those keyrings that replied when you whistled to them? (except that they responded to just about everything else, including the dog and children's high voices!)

I used to do ebay, but found i was just too busy, but i really do need to find the time....Just wish there were another few hours in the day...lol..

did try doing a website a few years ago, but only sold a few things..again time needed to keep it stocked and 'looking fresh'

I have put 2 hanmade brooches on etsy this weekend, and was thinking of putting a couple of welsh blankets and bits of vintage linen on there to test the waters so to speak...but i am not holding my breath on that one...:rotfl:

was also thinking of doing a once a month sale at our place... and advertise it locally....

its a gorgeous morning here, really pretty. After a big massive flop of a couple of weeks with meetings and health issues I've got someone coming intoday to scoop poop for me. It will be a relief to get that back under control...mean while....the chicken house is, I admit, not clean....so I need to attack that.ut you ned a hot summer day for that, so that, doors open, it can dry before they need to go back in.....but we haven't had really had one of them and won't get one now, so it will be the first year I've not done this. I'm having nightmares about red mites!

The plan was, as normal, to hose out, and properly disinfect, b

Yes, if the branch had fallen on the car it would have been dodgy. There weren't many branches down yesterday, mainly just large twigs, so we must have fared quite well compared with other areas.

Yet another bit fell off my tulip tree though. It's looking so battered I think it probably will have to go, after all. :(

I think most of us are under money pressure & 'going backwards.' I know we seem to do well for a while, and then two or three major things come along in rapid succession......:o
  • Well we had a pretty bad night with the storm, not the pleasantest experience in a clapped out caravan lol On th eplus side my house held up well, no significant damage, all workies back today including the slaters, so hopefully it'sll be in even better shape for the next wind heading in later today they say :)
