Hi RAS - we have had some 'stuff' going on & I have been wondering about a load of stuff, wondering if we are in the right place!
    ....................
I was a bit rankled about withdrawing my woodland plans as that would have given me a little income that could have partly fnded the byre - but hey ho will just have to put my thinking cap on.

Sorry about that. As you know I am really really into woodland creation.

We had a bit of a discussion on a thread in money saving oldstyle about neighbours. It is tough enough in a city when there is lots to keep people otherwise engaged but when there are not a lot of people around, individual relationships have more impact and there is more scope for strife.

rhiwfield - lovely photies & oh, so neat a garden.

Hope your wife recovers soon in time for your daughter's graduation.

RAS - I do have loads of trees on the actual croft, indigenous trees. I was planning to take out an apportionment of my share of the common grazing for a native woodland scheme, but the neighbour raised loads of rubbishy & ridiculous objections. I could quite easily of fought it but he's a not great person & just withdrew the application. We keep hoping they'll move!

But I have enough to contend with at the moment - too much really.

I can't understand how anyone could object to trees......trees are...what everything is about!

fwiw with everything else going on I think you are quite right to withdraw application for another day. Is it worth approaching the local wildlife trust for advice that might support application at a later date?

The woodland trust, who actually sent out a consultant of thiers, said it was the most exciting project that they had been approached with. The croft ground is one of the most diverse for species she's seen on a 'wetland'. She was brilliant & was pretty complimentary about how I have used no chemicals & am protective of the rare plants. There is evidence of ancient woodland & what I would have been doing is recreating woodland that would have naturally occured pre deer & sheep.

It'll wait but probably the grants will vanish - I would have to deer fence & lay out quite a bit of money - which I don't have so would be reliant on a loan & grant assistance.

Went down the shore this afternoon & the tide was really well out & found some mussel beds beneath the fresh water burn - so that was a good find for later. Good to know that I have a supply down there.

    oh it sounds so wonderful.

The good news is I suppose, hat you are doing the right thing and at a later date you have great plans in place, and the support of Woodland Trust. Have you updated the woman, told her how it is? They might have some support?

Mussels...yum, one of my absolute favs...and fresh from the beach...I'm a little envious.

Not one egg was laid here today. But the young 'uns did fly over the fence four times.
