I'm looking to extend my broadband connection to another part of the house using these devices: http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-av.htm
I've read conflicting reports that they're not intended for use with multi-socket adaptors, and have to be plugged into a wall socket. Is this true?
Cheers

Mines plugged into a cheapy multi socket with no problems, but it WOULDNT work through a mains conditioner:idea:0

I would speak to Solwise. They have always been very helpfull and honest when I have spoken to them. I have the Homeplugs and am delighted with them. Mine are directly into the sockets as I have enough spare, but I have not heard of problems with them in multi soket adaptors. I bought mine from e-bay as they were a bit cheaper. You could also consider the piggy back one here.0

This Solwise powerline adaptor enables you to plug it into a wall socket and then plug a four (or more) gang extension into its pass-through socket.
That enables you to put a little distance between the device and other things you wish to power from the same socket. You can experience problems if you plug them in directly adjacent to small chargers for things like mobile 'phones (big, chunky chargers or PSU transformers are fine, however, Solwise told me). They don't like being adjacent to plugs for low-energy bulbs, either, because these pulse the current.
One effective solution is to give them a short extension lead of their own to keep them away from interference.
Solwise is based just outside Hull and its Technical Support is very friendly and helpful: give them a ring if you have any queries. Telephone numbers are on the bottom of the page I've linked.
PS. Oops! chateauneufdupape beat me to it. But this thumbs-up from me, too, may reassure you.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.
