Its my fault, if I go over my overdraft!

Ok here is one to all the people here that say its my fault and if I go into the red, and so the charge should be taken.
I had a loan with HSBC that I have just finished paying off. I made the final two payments in one go, as I wanted to get rid of the debt. I rang HSBC on 4 ocasions making sure that the DD was cancled, and that they would not try to take money from my account. The told me they would not.
Friday (when I checked my blaance), I had a nice 300 pounds ready for the weekend. As I get payed on the 12th this was just right to get me though.
However on sunday I had guests that had come a long way to see me. When I went to take money out, my card was declined.
I have just spent an hour of MY time in the bank, turns out 375 pounds was taken out of my account. For money I dont owe, to a loan that should have been closed.
Now tell me, if its OK for them to charge me 25 pounds if I make a mistake and go over my overdraft. Even though I have told them not to let me take money out if I dont have it. Why should I not charge them for borrowing money from me with out permission???
I am totaly mad at the way the lady said "the money will be back tomorrow" Yeah often I make a mistake and take out money less then 375 quid BTW, and I relise what I have done, and put money in the next day. But still get charged.
I did not have money to take my guests out on sunday, and had to borrow money to get to work this mornoning.. And all down to a mistake by HSBC. They have the dam neave to tell me I should keep an eye on my account if I dont want to get charged.

You could send them a charge for your inconvenience, I don't know if you'd get anywhere but its worth a try. A few years ago Natwest paid mine and my husbands fines with the tax office for late submission of returns, it was £400.00, because they had made such a !!!! up of sending me (or not) statements I had ordered.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Thinking again, banks often make mistakes, one I can think of
Not sending out statements as above, because they didn't know the address !!
Misplacing £600 cash I put in the bank, they did find it again.
Charging twice for historic statements
Charging for a full years statements (at £2.50 per sheet), when I had only ordered 3 sheets.
At the end of the loan taking the full payment when I only owed them £60.00
Yes you are right plenty of mistakes.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb
