PLEASE HELP... Debit Card Fraud Advice

Comments

  • Now the transactions have appeared, you can contact the fraud department (not customer services) to dispute them.

Have you given your card number and/or PIN to any phishing websites?

Yes, Fraud dept are onto it now, but I have to keep calling as there are more transactions pending..

The last time I used my card online was to Amazon, it was a Jersey Merchant apparantly but I did receive the goods I ordered..

And as far as my PIN goes, I haven't given that to anyone, would never even keep a record of it..

But my last debit card with the same long bank card number was cut into little pieces and thrown in the rubbish just a few weeks ago.. Due to expire at the end of the month... Could someone have possibly got the info from that??

I know this is a few days old but what happened in this case?

I am having a similar problem. Today I checked my account and have lost over £1000 over the last few days on everything from pizza to oyster cards. Most were online but like you someone had spent a fortune at Tesco so I feel they must have somehow cloned my card - but I'm not sure how as I don't shop anywhere dodgy. The only online places I use are Play and Amazon and I completely trust both, and outside of that I only use the card to buy train tickets and things like that.

Hopefully I will be okay as I have never owned an oyster card or anything like that, and in some cases I was buying a train ticket at Canterbury about five minutes after someone did something at Hammersmith, so obviously I couuldn't have been in both places at once.
  • There was an incident where I originally come from (we live in Hampshire now - but we go back often), whereby a local petrol station cloned the cards of many of it's customers.

Take a look at this thread:

    http://www.wirralnews.co.uk/wirral-news/local-wirral-news/wallasey-news/2009/03/04/fuel-station-caught-up-in-card-cloning-100252-23059099/

It's not gone down well in the area. And believe it or not, they are still operating. There are Police van(s) - we'll at least when we have passed the place - outside the petrol station to prevent (what appears to be) any local action. Do not support people taking action - it's a matter for the Police and the Courts but surely they should not be allowed to remain open?! Or am I just being horrible?
