TomTom Green Light Problem

Hi, has anyone experienced the 'green light' problem with their TomTom? When I put the charger in, the green charging light comes on, but the device does not switch on. I tried the 'hardware reset' advised by TomTom online support FAQ but no joy.

Thanks,

Nick.

Do you mean you can't actually turn it on when charging?

I had this at times on mine when the battery was quite low and I got into the car and found the same problem. I had put the car charger in, the green light was on but the device wouldn't start up. The only way which did start it up was keep the charger plug in so its on, removing the SD card, and putting a pin in the reset for about 15 seconds then holding the on button for a few seconds and it would start up.

I'm not sure if the problem was as the battery had got so low but since then I have tried to top it up with a home charger before use.

Removing the card and putting it back in usually works with mine as well.

When you switch it on it takes slightly longer to load but usually comes up.

As previous people have said, if the Tomtom has completely lost its charge, it wont start up as soon as its connected to the mains supply. Give it 15-20 minutes and try again, it should be fine after this amount of time.

If it fails to start after being fully charged, take a paper clip and unwind it, press the end into the reset slot on the Tomtom whilst holding the power button in. This will do a hard reset (you may need to reset the Tomtoms time) which has worked every time for me.

Cheers guys. I tried the reset method but the device still would not switch on. I left it on charge overnight with a mains-to-usb charger but it does not appear to hold charge. Whilst the power connector is plugged in, there is a green power light, but when it is removed after a while, green light switches off.

I had exactly the same problem on my TomTom 510, bought a new battery and this fixed the problem.
