Thinking About Renting my Flat Out

Hi peeps,

I am doing a quick back of the cigarette packet calculation on whether to rent out my flat (rather then sell and move nto rented myself)

There is a service charge payable of £120 per month. As a landlord would you expect this expense to be paid separately by yr tenants? Or should the rent charged include this?

Thanks

I would never dream of asking a tennant to pay the service charge on top of their rent. You maybe be able to factor it in to the total rental price, but you would obvioulsy have to make sure that this was inline with an accurate rental price.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

I'd recommend having a close look at the local rental market first. Some estate agents are refusing to take any more rental properties onto their books as they have too many already, due to those who can't sell deciding to rent out instead.

The service charge is yours, as Kitty says your rent price can take account of this. However, I'm sure that other flats nearby that also have this charge will not charge seperately.
You will be best guide by other flats rently costs

i doubt that, they couldnt come round ours quick enough we have got a 3 bed roomed semi, the letting agent told us they are really busy with rentals.

120 pound a months a lot of money to go on top of the rent for a flat though

    people are just not buying
