Help! Goods not received - paid by credit card

HELP! I'm new to the forum - I have a big problem and not sure what do do - any suggestions welcome please!
I ordered a pair of curtains from the website DISCOUNT FABRICS (https://www.discountfabircs.co.uk) - and paid £575.00 on the telephone by credit card on 10 Dec 2008. I was told I would get an order confirmation by email - it never appeared. Neither did I get an official invoice.
After much chasing the curtains finally appeared on 29 January 2009 by DHL - however they had been made 10cm too short. After an email exchange with the company and again much telephoning my myself - they finally agreed to take them back and have them altered, they admited that they had the same measurements as me and that the seamstress got the order wrong - I have that much on email.
The curtains were collected by courier on 5 Feb - I was told they would be sent back within 10 days.
After chasing the company I was told they would be delivered on 26 Feb - they did not arrive - again I chased to find out where they were - told they would then arrive 5 March - nothing!
Now I smell a rat....for 5 days the company is continually engaged - they won't respond to my emails - I finally got through to a mobile number and promptly was hung up on.
I have not one official piece of paper to show return of the item - the company were very clever to never give me a DHL tracking number.
We went to the credit card company VIRGIN - who said that they can't help without an invoice - & something from DHL to show the goods were returned.
DHL won't help without a tracking number.
Just don't know where to turn now - its such a huge amount of money to lose - and the Discount Fabrics company will not pick up the phone....wonder now if theya re going into adminsitration?
If anyone can suggest what to do I'd appreciate the help,
