That is still scarily high for even three of you unless there is some kind of medical condition or similar bumping it up...feelingbeyondlow wrote: »I switched to another gas company..But still owed £450 to british gas because they were just working off an estimate.
Im goin gto be calling the life insurance tonight to work out why im paying so much for that..I think its because im still paying for myself and my son and ex probably.
Have a look for some quotes on moneysupermarket.com and then when you find out the best quote use a cashback site such as Quidco or Topcashbck to see if they are offering cash back for that company. It is usually quite good cashback for insurances...0 -
Hi, If you look at the things that laura has highlighted for you as I agree you seem to be paying quite highly for a lot of things that if you shop around you can get for much much cheaper, with regards to BG was it parlty their fault they were working on an estimate? if so just offer them a token payment each month as to what you can afford, if it's partly their fault then they can wait for their money back.
If you live on your own you can get 25% off your council tax bill, have you looked into this? x
Take your ex off your life insurance and you will get a much cheaper quote for just you and your son.
I get both my buildings and contents insurance with Halifax for £19 p/m.
Go on a PAYG tariff for your mobile if you canLife is too short for regrets, wake each day with a new slate and forget those that bring you tears, they're not worth it, but relish those that bring you a smile!

Also, I noticed you don't have car, but haven't got any expenditure under 'other travel' eg public transport. How are you getting about? Perhaps some of your money is 'disappearing' here?0

Regarding Council Tax, do you live on your own? If so, do you claim the 25% discount for single persons accupancy? xLife is too short for regrets, wake each day with a new slate and forget those that bring you tears, they're not worth it, but relish those that bring you a smile!

Actually, you may not be suitable for a DMP as you only have one unsecured debt.. I'm not 100% sure how it worksso don't quote me on that. Best to talk to the proffessionals!

You may have to massively cut your monthly outgoings for a while. Satellite and internet etc Would you be able to take in a lodger and perhaps get some extra income that way? You can get up to £4250 per year tax free by renting out a room...
Had a lodger, but that caused more problems for me.
Going to call sky tonight and see if there is anyway i can reduce the package.
Doubt i can reduce my mobile as its stuck in an 18 month contract.
Clothes can go.
Hopefully after tonight i can reduce the life insurance.
cant get the gas down but that should only be for a few months and then that extra £50 a month will be gone.
I dont think im going to get the dmp because yeah i need 3 debts and needs to total over 8k with 3 different people
My overdraft and loan are with the same bank

Hiya, just wanted to say that my life assurance/mortgage cover was £115 per month and it was only for me  I found out it had all sorts of extra's I didn't need but only realised it was so high after posting my SOA on here. I've now got it down to £34 per month which covers my full mortgage for the term I've got left. It really is worth having a shop round to see what you can find. You'll be surprised at the difference all those savings will make.
Good luck! :TLight Bulb Moment 4th January 2009 :eek:Started DMP 1st April 2009 :ADMP mutual support thread member: 267 :j0 -
Tried to get through to abbey insurance on my lunch break but no joy.
Going to be a long night of phone calls me thinks.
Realised that i cant do a dmp because i need to take my ex's name off my morgage when i get back on my feet..So if i went fo rthe dmp then there isnt a chance in hell that i would get my morgage in my own name.0
