Building Inspection Fee

Hi,

I have full building regs for a side extension which have been approved, since I have also decided on a rear extension.

I was hoping to amend\sumbit another application so that I only get charged once building inspection fee. The council have advised that this makes no difference as the building work will also ways be seen as 2 units of work regardless of how we submit the application.

Is this true I thought that projects 10m2 to 40m2 would be charged at the same price regardless of how we build ?.

I now think it would be best to just leave the side as full plans and submit a building by notice for the rear extension?

Is this is the best way can someone please advice ?
